William "Bill" Frederick Ostrum III, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Passages Hospice in New Orleans, LA. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on August 18, 1956, Bill attended Dallas public schools and later Bucknell University and the University of New Haven. He later moved to Middletown, CT and worked as an engineer and ultimately in management at United Illuminating Company. After vacationing in New Orleans several times a year for over a decade, Bill and Robin ultimately retired there in 2015.
Bill will be remembered for his love of jazz music, golf, cooking Cajun food, and most importantly his family. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his brother Gary (Karen) of Buffalo, NY; his sons William Frederick IV (Crystal) of Washington, DC, and Nicholas (Sarah) of New Orleans, LA; and his grandson Maximilian. Other survivors include sister- and brother-in-law Nancy and Don Neidig, sister-in-law Linda Baker, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, William Frederick Ostrum, Jr., and mother, Dolores Cherup Ostrum.
He will be remembered by his immediate family in a small, private gathering and a larger celebration of life will follow in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to can send donations to Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
