Willa Mae Mendoza Dugas was born on January 22, 1928 and entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Port Sulphur, LA. Beloved wife of 42 years to the late Joseph A. “Pappy” Dugas. Mother of Alice Pelas (Jimmy), Mary Buras (Ricky), Bobby Dugas (Cindy) and the late infant Suzanne Dugas. Grandmother of Michael Bennett (Jennifer), Shannon Pelas (Stacey), Shawn Dugas (Brian), Rachel Buras (Jonathan), Brandon Buras (Carrie), Brock Buras, Sr. (Lan), Shane Dugas and Mary Katherine Buras. Great Grandmother of Viktorija, Michael, Mason, Brooklyn, Cameron, Ryleigh, Sophie, Brock, Jr., Channing and Lexy. Sister of Ethel Bailey, Irwin Mendoza and the late Henry “Bud” L. Mendoza and James D. Mendoza. Daughter of the late Carmen and Henry Mendoza. Special friend of Roy Treadway. Godmother of Pat Hills Fergurson, Donna Bailey Hanks, Joy Cossich Lobrano and James Mendoza. She is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews. She was born in Freeport, Texas and came to Port Sulphur at the age of 5 until Hurricane Katrina where she made her home in Belle Chasse, LA. She was a Parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Port Sulphur and an active member and former President for many years of the St. Anne Altar Society of St. Patrick Church. She received the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion for her devotion to the work of the Catholic Church. She was a member of the LaBelle Dame and a member of the Senior Choir at St. Patrick Church. She was noted for her pineapple and coconut cake. Besides baking, she enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, quilting and fishing. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23, Port Sulphur, LA on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church on Saturday at 11AM. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Port Sulphur, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
