Victor Mike Harris, Jr. passed away on August 21, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Velma Falgout Lemaire Harris. Father of Vicki H. Alexander, Victor Mike Harris, III, Mark Harris (Windy), Susan H. McMullen (Steve), Cynthia H. Lefferson (Chad), and Kay H. Lafitte (David). Grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 10. Stepfather of Marlene L. Garcia (Jose'), James Lemaire (Sheila), Cindy L. Dugas (Bobby), Michael Lemaire (Sheila), and the late Wilbert Lemaire, Jr. and Aaron Paul Lemaire, Sr. Step-grandfather of 20, step-great-grandfather of 32, and step-great-great-grandfather of 7. Son of the late Victor Harris, Sr. and Estelle Walker Harris. Brother of Silbyl H. Everett Barnes and the late Harold H. Harris (Lucille).
Age 88 years, a native of Monticello, MS, and a resident of Port Sulphur, LA. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 until 1952 and was stationed in Guam for three years. He attended Southern Mississippi University where he earned his B.S. He moved to Port Sulphur, LA in 1957 where he coached all sports and taught many school subjects such as Science and Math, as well as Driver's Education, and was also the school bus driver. He became Assistant Principal at Boothville-Venice High School from 1972 until 1978, and retired from Port Sulphur High School in 1988. He was a Deacon and Elder at Port Sulphur Presbyterian Church for many years. After retirement he drove hot-shot trucks for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman and quail hunter. After Hurricane Katrina he retired to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 5 PM until 8 PM. Visitation will resume at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Port Sulphur, LA on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9 AM until Mass time at 11 AM.
