Vic A. Pitre, Sr.

November 17, 1943 — April 27, 2021

Victorian Augustan Pitre, Sr., known by many as “Vic”, “Vap” and “Poppa Vap” entered into eternal peace on April 27, 2021. Born on November 17, 1943, he passed peacefully at the age of 77 surrounded by family. He was a lifetime resident of Westwego, LA., spending the last 5 years in Covington, LA. with his loving and devoted wife of 20 years whom he is survived by, Mary Dehring Pitre. Son of the late Harry A. Pitre and Annabelle Tassin Pitre. Preceded in death by his high school sweetheart his first wife of 39 years and mother of his children, Octavia Ann Clark Pitre. He is survived by his 2 children Vic A. Pitre, Jr. (April) and Cheryl J. Pitre; 4 grandchildren Jeffrey E. Elliott, Jr. (Yaritza), Jordyn Pitre Baldo (Gabriel), Austin Pitre and Holden Pitre (Isabel); 3 great grandchildren Kai Baldo, Nicholai Baldo and Nadia Baldo; Sister Gail Pitre Lonibos; numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren; Adult step children Toby Domangue (Vic), Craig Domangue, Jr., Melissa Haburjak (Bill) and step grandchild Abigail Haburjak. Preceded in death by brothers in law O'Neil Lonibos and James Clark (Dardenella). Vic enjoyed traveling around the country and taking cruises with his wife Mary. They were active in the Lake Ramsey Civic Club and enjoyed quiet times on the lake and taking their boat out for a spin. His professional accomplishments consisted of Jefferson Parish Roads & Bridges, Marrero Land & Improvement Assn., 1996 was appointed to Jefferson Parish Zoning Appeals Board, Southern Abstracts and retired from Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court. In the 80's, he ran a bait/tackle/souvenir business by the name of Krazy Shack on Louisiana Street in Westwego with his wife Octavia, brother in law James Clark and his wife Dardenella Clark. Their business also sold shrimp at the Westwego Shrimp lot when it all started and shrimp was sold out the back of pickup trucks. He is a lifetime member of Westwego Volunteer Fire Co. #1. He was very involved in the interest of his children and grandchildren, never missing anything they participated in, which included multiple sports, cheerleading and dance. 1970 was President of Westwego Playground Sports Assn. In the early 70's he coached little league football and girls softball. He really enjoyed being a member of the T&T Fan Club and Deep South Marching Club with his friends and was a fan of Tulane Green Wave. He enjoyed Mardi Gras season and was a member of numerous Krewes over the years. Such as Poseidon, King Arthur and Grela. He was a member of Krewe of Alla for over 20 years. Vic will forever be loved and remembered by everyone who knew him. Flowers, Cards, and Memorial Donations to (American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 / (800) 242-8721) are all welcome. Due to the COVID Pandemic, all attendees are required to wear their face mask for the duration of the Visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 11AM until 1PM. Blessing and Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego, Louisiana.
