Tilman P. Schouest Jr.

February 14, 1943 — December 29, 2021

Tilman P. Schouest Jr., affectionately known as “Grumpy”, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the age of 78 years. He was born on February 14, 1943, raised in Westwego, LA and resided in Marrero, LA for the past 37 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tilman P. Schouest Sr., Mary Matherne Schouest, and his brother, Eddie Schouest.
Beloved husband of his “Joy to the World” for 37 years to Joy Guidroz Schouest. Father of Lenny Schouest (Lorrie) and step-father of Annette Rodriguez, the late Milton Rodriguez Jr. and Angela Rodriguez. Grandfather of Brittney Weekly (Billy) and great-grandfather of Cambre.
Next to Joy, he loved L.S.U. sports, purple and gold all the way. To his sports friends, he was “Tillie”, his Avondale friends where he worked for 55 years, “Grumpy”, and his school friends, Tilman.
He was a talented craftsman, loved fishing and traveling, especially to the mountains and of course, eating and working the dining room at his favorite restaurant, Jake’s Seafood in Marrero. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm, resuming on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 8am to 11am. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Mausoleum in Waggaman.

Respectful of precautionary guidelines, all attendees are asked to wear their own mask/face covering and practice distancing.
