T.J. Elliott, Jr.

July 30, 1948 - January 25, 2022

Tilden Joseph Elliott, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the age of 73. T. J. was born on July 30, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to the late Tilden Sr. and Mary Elliott. Beloved and devoted husband of Renda Elliott for 51 years. Loving father of Tilden (Trey) Elliott, III (Marian). Proud and adoring grandfather to Mayla Elliott. Survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and many friends, including his golfing buddies with whom he enjoyed a cold beer or two. Golf was his passion but LSU football was his other love. A super fan for over 42 years as a season ticket holder, he especially enjoyed the home games with his son by his side. T.J. attended West Jefferson High School, graduating in 1966 and attended Nichols State University for one year before joining the United States Navy for two years active duty during the Vietnam era. Upon returning home, he began a long and successful career working within and serving the oil industry in southern Louisiana as a truck driver, outside salesman, and finally a small business owner with his father. T. J. was currently a member of The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Supreme Council, 33 Southern Jurisdiction, USA, the Jerusalem Shriners, and Grand Lodge of Louisiana F. & A.M. (William D. White No. 408 F. & A.M). His retirement gave him the time to really enjoy his golf, LSU and travelling with his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd. in Marrero, LA on Thursday morning, February 3, beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass following at 1:30PM in the Mothe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial contribution to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
