Sylvia Ann Perrin Williams

February 7, 1938 — December 18, 2020

Sylvia Ann Perrin Williams, 82, was called to eternal rest peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was born February 7, 1938. Sylvia was the loving wife and best friend of Walter Williams, Jr. for 63 years. She was a longtime resident of Marrero, LA and a parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church. Sylvia was the loving and devoted mother of 6 children, Julie Ann Williams, Mark Walter Williams, Nelson David Williams (BJ or B as Sylvia would call him), Marilyn Elizabeth McCausland (John), Cynthia Williams Ockman (Daniel) and the late Cheryl Marie Williams. Sylvia, who was also known as “MawMaw” and “GG” had an eternal abundance of love to give to her 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren including one that is currently on the way and one who she is now holding in heaven. We know she will continue watching over her loved ones from heaven. Beloved daughter of the late Earnest W. Perrin, and the late Leona Cheffer Perrin Alexander. Beloved step-daughter of the late Adam W. Alexander, (Pops). Devoted sister “Tee” of Stacey Perrin Savoy (Kenny) and the late Earnest Paul Perrin. Sylvia was loved by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws, some of which she is now rejoicing with in Heaven. She was a member of the Servants of Mary and a founding member of Mary’s Helpers Inc in Marrero, LA. Sylvia led an extremely full life filled with love and laughter. She was passionate about art, writing, dancing, socializing, traveling, attending mass, Mary’s Helpers, playing Scrabble, spending time with her friends and family and her best friend and husband “Walt”. You could often find her sitting at the dining room table in an intense game of scrabble or Mexican train dominoes with her family and friends. She really liked to win which is a quality she got from her mom. On the weekends you would find her in front of the TV watching her Saints and LSU. At holidays she loved making homemade desserts, homemade dishes and passing down family traditions and recipes while having a house full of her family. There could never be too many loved ones. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to get in the car for a new adventure regardless of the destination. She loved experiencing them all. She often said “I’m not made to be home, I’m ready to hit the road.” Sylvia enjoyed being social and was a natural social butterfly. After raising 6 children and retiring, she and Walt joined several social clubs where they could often be found dancing the night away, dressing up for special occasions, loving life and most importantly, continuing to always date each other. She loved going to a “show” (especially with popcorn), out to dinner, live music, events at city park, or just walking around the city holding hands with her love. The two had a love without bounds and a meaningful love story that many often only dream of finding. Their secret was, “to never go to bed mad” .Throughout their 63 years of marriage, you could find them holding hands, sneaking a kiss, staring into each other’s eyes, joking with each other and doing whatever it took to make each other smile. Even after 63 years of marriage, Walt could make her blush and her eyes light up with love. She was known to admit that she played hard to get but, “he swooped her off her feet”. She said when he proposed in October of 1956, he told her to “marry me” and we will live on love” and after marrying on June 1, 1957, that is exactly how her love story went. I have no doubt that she is in heaven waiting for the day she gets her next dance. Donations in her honor may be made to a charity of your choice, or to The Wounded Warrior Project and Mary’s Helpers, Inc. as these were both dear to her heart. Her favorite quote was “When you see God’s hand in everything, it’s easy to leave everything in God’s Hands,” and we know that is exactly what she is doing. Sylvia was laid to rest on Monday, December 28, 2020 in a private family service. Family and friends may view and sign the online guestbook at www.mothefunerals.com .
