Steve Joseph Alvarez, 71, of Nine Mile Point, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 4:21 pm at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Hospital in New Orleans. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Mary LeBlanc Alvarez; Three Children; Shane Alvarez, Julie Alvarez Dixon (Daniel) and Scott Alvarez (Ashley); two Grandchildren: Lauren Dixon and Reese Dixon; Sisters, Nancy Martin (Kirkland), Linda Sevin and brother, Bobby Alvarez. He is the son of the late Jules Alvarez and the late Lulumay Lebiche Alvarez Cuccinello.
Steve served as a Specialist 5 in the United States Army from 1967-1969. He was a United States Vietnam War Hero. He retired from The Louisiana Carpenter Hall Local Union 1846, Served the E-Board. Steve was The Commander for the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, J.Y. Sanders Camp 2092. Served 20 years as President of the Nine Mile Point Community Association, Volunteer firefighter for The Nine Mile Point Fire Department among other community and Military Organizations. His dedication to the community was a true asset.
Relatives and Friends of the Family, also parishioners of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and Carpenter Union Hall are invited to attend the funeral services at the Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 6 pm until 8 pm and resume Friday, February 12, 2021 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Bridge City, Louisiana at 11 am.
