Stephen Charles Hourcade peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 67. He is survived by the love of his life for almost 44 years, his wife, Carol Viering Hourcade. Son of the late Ade Lee and John “Shorty” Hourcade. Loving father of Amy Hourcade Schmidt (Christian). Brother of John "Sonny" Hourcade (Linda). Sister of Renee Hourcade Boudreaux (Leslie). Brother in law to Paulette Viering Carlin and Robert Carlin. Uncle and Paran to Scott, Rhonda and Mielle. Uncle to Robin (Damien), Kim, Shari, Pam, Leslie, Jennifer, and Melissa. Great Uncle to Zelie, Solveig, Jolie, and George. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was a graduate of River Oaks High School in 1971, 3rd in his class. He was in the Who’s Who Honors of high school students, President of the math club and played on the varsity basketball team. He was voted the most attractive! He received a scholarship to LSU where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He worked at Getty, Texaco, and Chevron with 40 years of service as a Petroleum and Corrosion Engineer. Now retired for 5 years. Steve was an avid fisherman his whole life spending his time at his family camp, loved being on the water, trawling for shrimp, crabbing, enjoying nature, having fish fry’s and sharing as much fish and shrimp as he could, making crab dip and dressing, loved lemon pies, and gardening. In his life, he and his wife enjoyed traveling with his family visiting America’s beautiful sites from Maine to Alaska. He also loved classic rock music and loved experiencing live music, especially with his daughter, Amy. A very special thank you goes to his cherished friends with whom he enjoyed special times with. He also adored his grand pup Saint. Steve lit up a room when he walked in with an infectious smile and laugh. He was kind, joyful, and very wise man. His family will miss him tremendously. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 11:30AM until 1:30PM.
