Simon Joseph Bellanger Jr., lovingly known by family and friends as “Squirrel”, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Nunez Bellanger, children Gregory (Estelle), Arnold (Ronda), Monique (Jeff), and Krystal (Ryan), grandchildren Jacqueline, Jamie, Cody (Brittany), Gregory Jr., Peyton, and Paige, great-grandchildren Jeff, Pauli, Reese, and Anderson. Also survived by his brother, Richard (Jeannie), sister Joy, and sister-in-law Millie. Preceded in death by his parents Simon and Virginia Bellanger, brothers Robert and Charles and brother-in-law Armand. He proudly served his country as a young man in the US Army and Navy. He was a lifelong resident of Marrero and for over 30 years worked for Azalea Bingo Hall. Prior to that, he was an employee of Continental Can Company and owner of The Squirrel Cage and The Courtyard. We know that he is now at peace cracking jokes, drinking a cold Heineken, smoking a cigar, and playing a game of blackjack. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Heart of Hospice and Ms. Martha Garcia who cared for him in his final days. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, La. on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6pm-10pm and Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 9am-11am.
