Shirley Mildred Bergeron McAnespy, life-long resident of Gretna, Louisiana passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord on August 19, 2022. Born on November 20, 1923, she was 98 years old. Shirley was the daughter of her deceased parents, Oscar Joseph Bergeron and Bena Elizabeth Gegenheimer Bergeron Cook and sister to all of her pre-deceased siblings, Melvin Bergeron, Loys Bergeron, Carroll Bergeron, and Dorothy Mae Bergeron Cook. While Shirley's husband, Lawrence Desire McAnespy, pre-deceased her, she is survived by her two accomplished daughters, Cheryl Ann McAnespy-Smith (husband George) and Scarlett Elaine McAnespy Barracco (husband Craig), her precious grandchildren Randolph "Randy" Patrick McCloskey, Jr., Lawren Desire Pomacino, and Emzy Pomacino, four great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. All will miss her dearly. Shirley was an accomplished and well-loved wife, mother, and homemaker but she was also an entrepreneur, having operated a small sandwich and hot tamale shop with her husband, Lawrence.
Memorial Services are being held for Shirley on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway in Harvey, La. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am with a Memorial Christian service following in the Mothe Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery [Gretna] follows immediately thereafter.
