Sharon Peterman Balkum

Sharon Peterman Balkum passed away on September 3, 2021 at the age of 76. She was born in Harvey, La on June 16, 1945 to the late Frederick and Lily Peterman.
Sharon was employed for over 15 years with the Jefferson Parish Public School System. She enjoyed working in her beautiful yard and Jazzercising with friends. She was a diehard LSU football tailgater for 17 years and made sure to always arrive on campus early in the morning. Sharon was Roman Catholic and raised her children in the faith. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of The Azaleas at Woldenburg Village and Louisiana Hospice Specialists for their compassion and care over the last 2 years.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Arnold Balkum, her son, Kurt Whitfield Balkum, and her parents, Frederick Jesse Peterman and Lily Wiltz Peterman. She is also preceded in death by her brother Frederick Jesse Peterman Jr (Pearl).
Sharon is survived by her children, Shannon Balkum Quaglino (Anthony III, "Chip") and Kyle Frederick Balkum (Paula), her grandchildren; Emerson Quaglino, Kelty Balkum, Kylie Balkum, and Kurt Balkum, as well as her sister, Linda Peterman Lerille (the late Albert) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10:30am in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey.
