Sarah Lynn Dowden, 67, passed away on November 2, 2021. She was born on September 21, 1954, in Kingsville, Texas. Sarah grew up in several south Texas towns, but mainly in Corpus Christi, TX. She graduated from Mary Carroll High School, class of 1972. Sarah married after high school and her family transferred to New Orleans and then to Lafayette, LA, where she lived the remainder of her life. Sarah was an artistic historian who enjoyed reading novels, quilting, sewing and cooking gourmet meals for her family. She had a great appreciation for nature and all things beautiful. Most of all, Sarah loved Rock-N-Roll and dancing. During the late 1980’s, she was employed in a secretarial position at M-I Drilling Fluids in New Orleans. She was a proud member of The Daughter’s of The Republic of Texas and of The Daughter’s of the American Revolution. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Hobbs Dowden and Effie Joan Dowden. She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Geisler (Jered), and Laura Finke; granddaughters, Riley Elizabeth Geisler and Kealie Amira Petro. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Julie Dowden; beloved brother, Chris Dowden and his wife Dawn, their family, and her partner of 20+ years, Seth Williams. Her family will seek comfort in her absence with her favorite Scripture (Psalm 23:4, 6). Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA 70058. Visitation will be at 12 Noon until the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial services will immediately follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70056.
