Sabahat Akarslan Yurttas

Sabahat “Saby” Yurttas, age 81, passed away on July 10, 2021. Loving wife of the late Halit Ali Yurttas for 33 years. Mother of Kenan Yurttas (Melike), Ersan Yurttas, Orhan Yurttas (Christi) and John Yurttas (Christine). Grandmother of Cassey Hernandez, Megan Yurttas, John Yurttas, Jr., James Yurttas, the late Bridgett Yurttas, and the late Eric Yurttas. Great-grandmother of Kane Holmes and Wesley Yurttas. A native of Istanbul, Turkey, born on April 28, 1940, Saby was the daughter of the late Yunus and Meryem Akarslan. She is preceeded in death by her siblings Nezihat Kartoglan, Sakyrie Bazdemir, and Behriye Gurbazer. Saby was a member of the Terrytown Golden Age Club and the Good Times Jamaica Dance Club, which she was a 2nd Intermdiate Winner of. Saby bowled in the W.I.B.C. league and was a Greater New Orleans Senior Olympic participant in 2004. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11AM at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 LAPALCO BLVD, in Marrero. Visitation will begin at 9AM.
