Rody Joseph Landry

Rody Joseph Landry, age 58, died peacefully on February 28, 2018 after a long illness, surrounded by loving family and friends. Beloved husband and soul mate of Fran Favrot Landry for 24 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Sr. and Gloria Landry, and brother Henry (Buddy) Landry Jr. of Algiers, LA. Loving brother of Deborah Landry Zatarain and Lonnie James Landry (JoAnn) and brother by marriage of Charles (Chuck) Favrot. Loving Uncle of Glenn Michael Zatarain (Maria), Sabrina Landry Marlbrough (Adam), Steven Landry (Stacy), Jonathan Landry (Stacey), Ginger Zatarain, Katrina Landry, Charlie Favrot and Shae Favrot. Rody was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help people when in need. He was the Assistant Concession Manager at the UNO Lakefront Area for over 20 years. He was a long time member and Senior Float Lieutenant of the Krewe of Endymion for the past 40 years. Rody was also a long time member and past President of the Krewe of Choctaw where he was honored to be chosen to reign as Chief for the 1997 Carnival Season. He was also a long time member of the Algiers Irish Rebels, and he was selected as the club’s Grand Marshall for the 2017 Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He was a long time member and integral part of the Sunshine Club of Algiers, a charitable organization that raises money to deliver food baskets to the needy in the community during the Christmas Holiday season. Funeral services will be held at Holy Name of Mary Church in Algiers Point (where he and Fran were married) on Saturday, March 3, 2018 with visitation beginning at 8:45am followed by Mass at 10:45am. Internment will immediately follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Due to Rody’s extreme love for Mardi Gras, we are asking that you come dressed in Mardi Gras attire, purple, green and gold as we celebrate his life.
