SMSgt Rodney J. Hotard, U.S.A.F. (Ret.) passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Carla Fontenot Hotard. Loving father of Rachelle Blanchard (Ralph), Aaron Hotard (Kourtney), Sarah Hotard (Joseph Carroll) and Austin Hotard (Grace Parker). Grandfather of Luca, Lillian, Alexis, Kaleb, Alyvia and Sienna. Son of Johanna Beetz Hotard and the late Walter J. Hotard. Brother of Timothy Hotard (Donna) and the late Kenneth Hotard. Uncle of Nick, Megan and Danny. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Rodney served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 2016 after 30 years of faithful service. He was an avionics technician for the 159th Tactical Fighter Wing in Belle Chasse, LA. Following his retirement, he continued to serve the 159th as a civilian in the C.R.F. Shop, working with Kay and Associates and other military contractors.
Rodney was very talented with his hands and tools, ready and able to fix most anything and was always willing to help others. He was devoted to his family and never missed a chance to cheer on his New Orleans Saints and L.S.U. football teams. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 9am to 11am. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Belle Chasse.
