Robert A. “Bob” Terry, Sr. of Harvey, LA entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of approximately 41 years Maebelle Marie Mitchell Terry. Bob was a well-loved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather; Preceding him in death also was his daughter Katherine (Kathy) Terry Meaux, his brother Edward G. Terry, Sr. step-son Donald (Donny) Castagnetta (son of Maebelle), and great grandson, Parker Kohl Castagnetta. He leaves behind his children Robert A. “Bobby” Terry, Jr., Cynthia “Cindy” L. Terry, Keith A. Terry, step-children, Kenneth Castagnetta, Lanny Castagnetta and Wendy Castagnetta - Coleman. Grand children Nicholas Coleman, Frank and Mark Trivett, Joey and Joy Meaux, Franchesca Terry, Brandi Castagnetta Phillips, Kelli Castagnetta Lejeune, Jessica Castagnetta Harris, Jonathan, Eric, Jami and Ashley Castagnetta, and Renee Castagnetta Richardelle. Great Grandchildren – Gabriel and Milan Coleman, Izabella, Charles, Willow, Parker, Malaki and August Trivett, Brynn, Jack, Tanner, Elijah & Sage Castagnetta, Brooke Detillier, Gavin Bienvenu, Silas LeJeune, Maci, Seth & Alli Harris, Paxton Roussel, Logan, Courtland, Leo and Sophia Richardelle, Mycah Allen and Tyson Jones. Bob completely raised and helped raise ten of the above children. He was born December 6, 1938 in the small northern Louisiana town of Zwolle son to the late John H. Terry & late Corinne LaRoux Terry. He was raised for the most part in southern Louisiana. He graduated from Eunice High School in 1956. Immediately following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for three and a half years aboard the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin BB-64 and the Guided Missile Cruiser U.S.S. Galveston CLG-3. During his service in the Navy Bob attained the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-5) as an Interior Communications Electrician in just 2.5 years. During his time in the Navy Bob also enjoyed worldwide travel to twelve foreign countries. His travels were highlighted by meeting and being blessed by Pope Pius XII in the Vatican's St. Peter's church, crossing the Equator and the Arctic Circle. Bob was a high school graduate, Navy Veteran, married and the Father of his first child Kathy before he was 21 years of age. After Bob received his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy he would embark on what would turn out to be a 42-year career at Avondale Shipyards in the electrical department. Through perseverance and genuine hard work Bob was to enjoy several promotions all the way up to Superintendent and Director levels. Bob held these two electrical department senior positions for a record total of 16 years. Through all those years Bob would interact with and supervise thousands of people. Bob was the brother of Joy Lynn Best. He was the brother-in-law of Louise A. Terry (widow of Edward Terry, Sr.), Joseph and his late wife Carol Taravella, the late William Best Sr. (husband of Joy Lynn Best) and Lanny and Gerry Boudreaux. He was also Father-in-law of Joseph Meaux (husband of the late Kathy Terry Meaux) and Mary Terry (wife of Bobby, Jr.), Connie Castagnetta (wife of Lanny) and Corliss Castagnetta (wife of Kenneth). Bob also leaves behind his beloved friend of over two years Addie Blanchard. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey LA. Parlors will be open for visitation on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 11:00 am until Eulogies at 12:30 pm. followed by Mass at 1:00. Interment will be in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna LA. The repass will be held La Maison Creole 647 Chalmette Street, Harvey La 70058 from 3:30 – 6:30.
