Reuben Frank Plessala Jr.
April 10, 1929 — January 19, 2022
Reuben Frank Plessala Jr. passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022 at the age of 92 years. Survivors include his nieces and nephew, Lorraine Rojas Lewis, Ralph Rojas (Sharon), Shelia Braun Booksh (Sid), and Cynthia Braun; great-nieces and nephews, Karl Booksh (Tami), Shannon Sanchez (Waylan), Durel Boudlauch Jr. (Ashley), Mattie Rojas Kupper (Scott), Brandan Rojas, along with 9 great-great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emily Pizani Plessala and Reuben Frank Plessala; sisters and brother, Violet Plessala Braun, Christine Plessala Haley, Lois Plessala Castillo, Donald Joseph Plessala; and his great-nephew, Peter Booksh.
Reuben was a lifelong resident of the Barataria/Lafitte area. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was presented medals for Japan Occupation and Korean Service with 2 stars. He later worked as a shrimper, fisherman, and trapper.
Reuben’s keen sense of humor was his calling card. His dry wit and ability to make someone laugh brought him immense joy. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10:30am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
