Raymond Paul Hanks Sr.

July 20, 1950 - May 7, 2022

Raymond Paul Hanks, Sr. was welcomed into the arms of his loving God on May 7, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Edith Gegenheimer Hanks. Father of Raymond P. Hanks, Jr. and Julie H. Allemand (late Troy). Grandfather of Ethan A. Hanks, Zachary P. Hanks, and Rhiannon N. Allemand. Son of the late Annaise “Blondie” Dunand Hanks and Philogene “JB” Hanks, Jr. Brother of Sr. Joyce M. Hanks, MSC and like a brother to Sr. Mary Beth Mouch, MSC. Age 71 years, a native of New Orleans, and lifelong resident of the Westbank. Raymond graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Delgado and multiple certifications in aircraft mechanics, air conditioning repair, and multiple other technical certifications. He worked until retirement with Bell South/AT&T. He was a member and former Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, parishioner of St. John Bosco Parish, friend of the Marianites of Holy Cross, and recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion. Raymond was a caring friend to many, never met a stranger, and a good Samaritan willing to help anyone in need. Raymond was known for his famous phrases such as “It is what it is;” and when hearing “good to see you” he would reply “It’s good to be seen.” His optimism, sharp wit, and good sense of humor will be deeply missed by all. Special thanks to staff of Notre Dame Hospice, and especially his caregivers Belinda Hunt with Grace and Compassion Senior Care and Monique and Joseph with the staff of The Sweets at Algiers Pointe. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:30 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until funeral time. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Marianites of Holy Cross Retirement Fund. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.mothefunerals.com.
