Preston "Pepper" Tassin

September 25, 1922 — March 4, 2018

Preston "Pepper" Tassin, 95, a lifelong resident of Westwego, LA, passed from this world to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Winnie Boudreaux Tassin for over 70 years. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, his 3 sons, Preston Tassin, Jr. (Barbara), Michael Tassin (Frances and the late Ouita), Robert "Bobby" Tassin (Karen) and two daughters, Genevieve "Jenny" Reine (Gilbert) and Karen Reine (Ted). Son of the late Edwin and Julienne Allemand Tassin. He was the half brother of Edwin Tassin, Jr. (Kathy), and is preceded in death by his baby sister, Genevieve Tassin. Grandfather of Ashley Rogers (Jeff), and Ted Reine, Jr. (Katie), Shawn (Amy), Lance (Jenn) and James (Rebecca) Reine, Heather Saddler (Jason), Jason Tassin (Mo), Justin Tassin (Sherry), Brandi Lepine, Bethany Hammick, Robert "Bobby" Tassin, Jr.(Georgie), Amanda (Josh) Morman, and Christen (Jeremy) Morman, David Karinshak (Chari), Diane Lambert (Yon), Le'Angel Beason (Michael), Jonathan Marse (Ashley), and Kathryn Reichert (Scotty). Also survived by 41 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Izabella Rogers. Pepper was a US Army Veteran of World War II, proudly serving with Patton's 3rd Army in Europe. He owned and operated Preston Tassin Truck Service for most of his adult life until retirement. He had a strong hard work ethic, but he enjoyed his family, the New Orleans Saints, fishing, trawling and digging for oysters. Preston was a lifetime member of the Westwego Volunteer Company #1, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign War, and the American Legion. He lived an incredible life, was kind, funny, and a generous man, loved by all who knew him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1pm. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9am until 1pm. Interment, Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered. A special thanks to Linda Quey, Mary Reine, Robin Simon, Kirk Kern, and Jessica LeCompte for all you did for him and our family. We are forever thankful.
