Peter Gregory Lambousy

October 27, 1937 — June 6, 2019

Peter Gregory Lambousy was born to Anasthasia and Gregory Lambousy in Jennings, Louisiana on October 27, 1937. From then on, his life was filled with adventures. From high school, he attended and graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, SLI, January 1961 in Lafayette, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in what is now Communications. For a short period of time, he sold adds for the Jennings Daily News and he volunteered into the US Navy. After four years, he was honorably discharged as la journalist 2nd class. From there, he joined the news staff of KATC-TV, the ABC station in Lafayette. He saw greener pastures at a major TV station in New Orleans, and, with excellent recommendations, signed on as a news photographer at WWL-TV New Orleans, a CBS affiliate. His film work began to be recognized as excellent contributions to the spoken word and soon he had begun to receive praise for his craft. Two of his films especially caught the public's eye as they appeared on the CBS evening news with Walter Cronkite. One was the sinking of the freighter The Union Faith, after a fiery crash with petroleum barges on the Mississippi; the other was the terrifying fire at the Rault Center in the New Orleans Business Center. After 11 years as a WWL-TV news photographer, entrepreneurship caught Peter's eye and The Video Store, Inc. became a reality. The store lasted until 1996--with Katherine as manager and Peter as technician--when the oil industry in the area fell on hard times and took retail business down with it. Katherine found employment at a department store and Peter signed on with a casino in the area. Peter is survived by sisters, Savilla Mamoulides (John) and Gloria Lambousy. His wife of 51 years passed away in January of 2016. Together, they had 2 sons, Gregory (Sarah Elizabeth) and Peter (Alison) and six grandchildren, Gregory, Patrick, Tristan, Peter, Matthews and Katherine Cindy. During his hospice for cancer, Peter received incomparable care from his loving Companion, Angelle Smith. She was always there to compare notes with the nurses and aides of Hospice Compassus. She was a bright light in a very dark situation.
