Paul Michael Andrieu Jr.

March 8, 1951 — February 23, 2021

Paul Michael Andrieu, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021 after living his life to the fullest for 69 years. He was born on March 8, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Paul M. Andrieu, Sr. and the late Marie Amelie DeLerno Andrieu. Paul was the devoted husband of Rosa de Castro Andrieu and the loving father of Alyssa Gaudet (Neal), Lauren Andrieu, and Stephen Andrieu (Lindsey). Papa (Pops) leaves behind his granddaughters, Megan Evans, Jenna Gaudet, and Olivia Gaudet, whom he adored. Paul revered his family above all and was the eldest of seven brothers: Christian (Donna), William, Robert, Kenneth, Brian (Barbara) and his late brother, John. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending his time with.

Paul was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School (1969) and Loyola University in New Orleans. Throughout the years, he enjoyed staying in touch with his many friends from the past and treasured all the new relationships he made along his journey. A humble and selfless man who led by example, Paul rose through the ranks of the New Orleans Fire Department to serve as District Chief. Paul loved all his fellow NOFD brothers and sisters, and cherished the close relationships made. He was grateful and honored to serve alongside each of them for over 30 years. Paul served his country in the Air Force Reserve rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, and he also worked at Napa Auto Parts for many years.

Paul loved videography and photography, particularly capturing videos on Christmas morning and taking pictures of Stephen's soccer games, as well as the many notable milestone moments of the lives of his children & grandchildren. His passions for traveling, cooking, and adventure were limitless. In his spare time, he also enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, watching LSU games, and cursing at the Saints games. At home, he often spent his time bringing a smile to the faces of his loved ones or cuddling with one of the pets.

A special thanks to MD Anderson, the Houston Fire Department, Rotary Fire Fighters Home, Ochsner Health, and all of those who helped Paul along his path – some of whom began as strangers but are now family. A special thank you to his brothers Christian (Chris) and Kenneth (Kenny) for the countless hours devoted to Paul's care, as well as, his cousin Greg Reinhard for his assistance and companionship with Paul. Finally, a special thank you to John Conant Andrieu, whose selfless act of donating bone marrow provided Paul many additional years of love and laughter.
