Patricia Barbier Cortez

Patricia Barbier Cortez was born on September 10, 1938 and passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020. Beloved daughter of the late Hubert Barbier and Gladys Brignac Barbier. Wife of late Elward “E.J.” Cortez. Loving Mother of Michael (Monica) Cortez, Stacy (Eusebio) Gongora, Julie (Robert) Enstice and Colonel Elward Patrick (Christina) Cortez, U.S. Army (Ret.). Loving Grandmother of Erica (Philip) Ehrhardt, Eusebio II (Ashley) Gongora, Christian (John) Cassreino, Christopher (Brittany) Cortez and Nicholas (Carlye) Gongora. Loving Great Grandmother of Emmet Cassreino, Philip Ehrhardt III, Emma Cassreino, Christopher Cortez Jr., Lauren Ehrhardt, Caroline Cortez, Brydie Gongora, Chandler Cortez, Eusebio Gongora III. Sister of the late Gerald (Beatrice) Barbier, the late Percy (Mary Ann) Barbier, the late Hubert (Kathleen) Barbier Jr., Margaret (Carl) Chaisson, Leslie (Bobby) Ledet, and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the VOL Choir and Altar Society, the Empty Nesters Group, Retired ILSP of Catholic Charities, Advocate for Hope Haven Children and Graduate of Holy Name of Mary High School Class of 1956.
She had a heart big enough for anyone and everyone and was loved and cherished by all. She touched the lives of so many and while her passing is sorrowful, her life and legacy will be celebrated.
Visitation will be held at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 3500 Ames Boulevard (at Barataria Blvd.), Marrero, LA on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 10am until 12noon. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
