Modesto “Rodas” Cooper Rubi was called home on December 31, 2021.
Rodas is survived by his wife, Iris Cooper; his children, Nellie Cooper, Scott Cooper, Richard Cooper (Sam), Amber Cooper, as well as Franklin Cooper and Jack Cooper; his sisters, Ena Cooper Bodden (Zuto) and Norma Cooper Gomez (Brandon); fifteen grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jack Williams Cooper and Nellie Cooper.
Rodas was originally born and raised on the Utila Island in Honduras, Central America, but he has made Gretna, Louisiana his home since 1981. Rodas was fondly referred to as the peanut butter and jelly man at Ochsner Rehab Facility. He could always be found at the Wal-Mart on Manhattan Blvd every morning at 7:30am, where he would meet with his friend JoAnn, and he would purchase his daily bread and cheese. Rodas will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Rodas on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La 70058, beginning at 11am. A visitation will be held from 9am until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow the services at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
