Michael L. Hughes, Sr.

Michael L. Hughes, Sr. passed away at the age of 62 years old, Thursday Jan. 20th after a long battle with cancer. “Mike” lived most of his life in Belle Chasse, La where he worked as a commercial fisherman and welder. He is survived by his children, Michael L. Hughes Jr (Desirée Marie) and David McFarland as well as his granddaughters, Mikayla Hughes, Malynn Hughes and Myakal Hughes and great grandson, Hudson. He is also survived by a sister, Joannie Hughes (Matthew Gengnagel) and two brothers, Willie Hughes (Patricia Hughes) and Jim Hughes (Barbara Hughes) as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Hughes Sr. and Lavada Tarver Hughes as well as his brother Tommy Hughes, sister, Kay Hughes, sister-in-law Marilyn Hughes and nephew Michael Furbush, Jr. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11am at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana 70056 where he will be interned.
