Merrill Spansel

Merrill Spansel, 77, from Terrytown, LA went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2018 after a long struggle with dementia. He was surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Joann Helen Victoriano for 56 years. During that time they were blessed with four wonderful children, Kim Spansel Hesita (Jerome), Karen Spansel Benoit (Chad), David M. Spansel (Lori), and Sean M. Spansel (Kim). Son of the late Georgine Hymel Spansel and Charles G. Spansel. Brother of Merle Mills (the late Orin) and Dennis Spansel (Gwen). Merrill, also known as Poppie, enjoyed spending time with his 7 grandchildren: Alexis, Nick, Taylor, Kirsten, Emma, Kristy, Jeremy and 3 geat grandchildren, Benjamin, Addison and Aubrie. Also survived by nieces and nephews with whom he had a special love for. He worked as an electrician for 47 years, was an avid runner and kept busy going to car shows, pawn shops and he loved music. His sense of humor brightened all of our lives and left us with funny stories and lots of special memories we will forever hold dear. We will miss you, rest in peace Poppie. Relatives and friends of the family also members of IBEW Local 130 are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11am. Interment Westlawn South Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6pm until 9pm and on Friday morning from 9am until 11am.
