Mercedes Theresa Buras Broussard

Mercedes Buras Broussard, a devoted mother, grandmother and great
grandmother, age 88, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 11, 2021.
Mercedes was the beloved wife of Hester Lee Broussard for 72 years. She is
the daughter of the late Frank Buras and Verna Smith Buras; Loving mother
to the late Keith Broussard, Sr. (Glenda), Melissa Broussard Scarabin
(Clifford), Kirk Broussard, Kevin Broussard; Grandmother of Clifford Scarabin,
Jr. (Lacrecia), Ashley Scarabin Lincoln (Josh), and Keith Broussard, Jr. (Kayla).
She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and
nephews. Mercedes is the sister of Elwood Buras (the late Gloria), Glenda
Cedotal (James), Leander Buras (the late Linda), and Myrtle Buras. She
precedes in death to sisters Lucille Bernard (the late Paul), Hazel Smith (the
late Marcus), Esther Loga (the late Ellis), Vera Dean (the late Bill) and
brothers Bertrand Buras (the late Agnes) and Irvin Buras. Mercedes was a
lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish. She was an employee of the
Plaquemines Parish School Board for many years. Mercedes was a caring,
loving mother and will be greatly missed by her children and their families. A
visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church,
Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 9AM until
11AM. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11AM. Interment will be at
Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME,
2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA is in charge of arrangements.
