Melvin Joseph Martin

Melvin J Martin (Spot) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 23, 2021, at the age of 92. He was born in Gretna on November 1, 1928, to the late Hube and Lillian Martin.
Melvin was a butcher by trade. He was a lifelong member of the Burning Horns Hunting Club and the Marrero Harvey Senior Citizens. Melvin loved to spend time with his family, and he especially loved being with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing and hunting.
Melvin is survived by his daughter, Katherine Sullivan (Warren) and his son, Mark Martin (Cheryl). Melvin leaves behind his companion for ten years, Eva Rivere. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Craig, Chris, Mark Jr, Shannon, and Kevin; his great grandchildren, Paige, Ayla, Kai, Keelan, Nathanael, Ava, Hylie, Adian, Wyatt, Blakely, Kevin Jr, Alex, and Benjamin; and his great great grandchildren, Kimber, Dakota, Cain, Tegan, and Lennox. Melvin also leaves his nieces Bridget and Janice, and his nephews, Herman Jr and Harry.
Melvin is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lucille Martin; his parents Hube Martin and Lillian Martin; and his sister, Ruth Morter (Herman)
The family would like to thank the staff at Concerned Care for all their care, support, and professionalism.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11am on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Mothe Funeral Home located at 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, 70058. A visitation will begin at 9am. Interment will immediately follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
