September 26, 1944 - August 18, 2021
Melvin Joseph LeCompte, Sr was born on September 26, 1944. He departed this life on August 18, 2021 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was a resident of Bridge City and a native of Westwego. Melvin was the loving husband of Gwendolyn Damico LeCompte for almost 53 years and the loving father of Melvin Joseph LeCompte Jr (Michelle) and Doris LeCompte Wild (Chad). He adored his granddaughters, Krystin LeCompte, Maycee LeCompte, Morgan Domingue and Dhaun Domingue. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Marisco Matherne; his father, Adam Pierre LeCompte and his brother, Alan LeCompte Sr. Melvin, affectionately known as Mel, was a proud Vietnam Veteran. His greatest joy in life was his family. He particularly enjoyed Christmas. He loved filling the tree with presents and hanging his Christmas lights. The one thing he loved just as much as Christmas, if not more, was family vacations. He loved taking the entire family to the Smoky Mountains. He also loved Tulane football and attended as many games as he could. Our hearts are broken, we will love and miss him forever. We will honor his legacy and what he valued most - God and Country. Due to the COVID Pandemic, attendees must wear their face mask and practice social distancing for the duration of the visitation and funeral service. Relatives and friends of the family, former employees of Avondale Shipyard; members of God’s House/Westbank Cathedral and The River Church are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 6PM until 11PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 8:30AM until 1:30PM. Funeral Services will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:30PM.
