Mary Myrtis Matte

December 17, 1941 — April 24, 2020

Mary Myrtis Matte, known to most as Myrtis, passed away on April 24, 2020 at the age of 78 years. She is preceded in death by Austin David Matte, her husband of 55 years. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Gil) Matte (wife Kathy), Rachel Marvin (husband Willie), Darren “D.D.” Matte (wife Cathy), and Traci Provost (husband James); grandchildren, Gerald “T.J.” Duplechien, Josh Duplechien, Stefanie Adam, Christopher Matte, Melanie Melancon Ragas (husband Jace), Allison and Dodie Matte, Dylan (wife Samantha), Donald, Devin, and Madison Mouton, Lauren and Miranda Marvin; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Peyton, and Kendyll Matte, Lacy Ann, Briannah, and Abbi Duplechien, Carter Fos, and Jace Ragas Jr.; her brother Gervais Quibodeaux, half-sister Belle LeJeune, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dozilia Quibodeaux; brother Calvin Quibodeaux; two children, Randall “Randy” Matte and Tammy Adam; and her grandson, Jason Matte.
​Myrtis worked at Langston’s Furniture Store and Persich’s Drugstore for many years. She served her local community as President of the Port Sulphur Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing and watching softball and cooking in her spare time. She was a devoted And selfless Mother to her children and a loving Mawmaw to her grandchildren . To her, family and God were the most important things in life. A private service will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey for the immediate family.
