Martin Henry Schmidt, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the age of 75. He is survived by his “Dawlin,” bride of 60 years, Sandra Cleaver Schmidt. Father of Cleaver James Schmidt and the late Martin “Marty” Schmidt, Jr. Son of the late Rudolph J. Schmidt Sr. and Rita Lyell Schmidt. Brother of the late Rudolph J. Schmidt, Jr. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was born in New Orleans, and lived on the Westbank for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Loyola University and was employed in the drug industry for 40 years. Martin lived a full life and was a diligent leader. He was the president of the local chapter of the Barber Shop Harmony Society’s Mardi Gras Chorus, and a longtime officer of the Jefferson City Buzzards. He was a volunteer Ranger with Amtrak’s Trails and Rails National Park Service Program. To Martin if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right. From building a house, garage, work bench or some remodeling or repair, to devoting his life to serving his family and friends. He was truly our Superman and lovingly referred to as “Chief.”
