Marilyn Savoie Balestra of Belle Chasse, La passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Anthony T. Balestra Sr. Mother of Antoinette B. Alba (Jairo), Cathy B. Stearns (Mark Buchner), Sylvana Billingsley Balestra (Bryant), and the late Tonasio A. Balestra Jr. (Rachel) Daughter of the late Ozama and Rena Savoie. Sister of the late Rosewell Savoie, Earl Savoie, and Janet Yetta. Grandmother to Quentin Stearns (Renee), Bridgette Longwell (Chuck), Dayna Trahan (Baron), Stephen Gregg, Ryan Gregg (Mikaela), Christopher Gregg, Rena Bulmer (Jason), and step-grandmother to Fabian Alba and Mandy Baker (Mathew). Great-grandmother to Brandon Stearns, Stasia Stearns, Hunter McCraine, Kaili Bagley, Madison Clulee, Jackson Gregg, Grace Gregg, Michael Gregg, Tanner Bulmer, Everly Gregg, and Maison Gregg. Step-great-grandmother to Ariana Alba, Aiden Alba, Jennie Longwell, Mia Longwell, McKinley Hebert and Devin Trahan. Great-great-grandmother to Ella Bagley, Chase Bagley, and Mila Clulee. A native of Westwego, La and a resident of Belle Chasse, La for the past 62 years. She was also Co-Owner of Balestra's Food Center and a member of the Red Hat Society. Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Balestra’s Food Center, are invited to attend the Visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Belle Chasse La on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM until Funeral Mass time at 12 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, La. Due to Covid-19 masks must be worn to attend.
