Marie Louise "Susie" Stuntz Newberry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marie Louise “Susie” Stuntz Newberry passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 82. She was born in Algiers, Louisiana on April 15, 1939 to the late Frank and Alma Stuntz. After graduating from Behrman High School in 1958, she married her loving husband Charles J. Newberry III in 1959 and they have been happily married for the past 62 years. Loving mother of Cindi Newberry Koch (Bart), Brian Newberry (Cathy), Mark Newberry, Christopher Newberry (Trudy), Kevin Newberry (Michaela), and Keri Newberry Armstrong (Murray). Proud grandmother of Baron Koch (Whitney), Lee Koch (Ana), Spencer Koch (Taylor), Dustin Newberry, Tina Newberry, Charli Newberry, Blake Newberry (Kelsey), Eric Newberry (Desiree), Madison Newberry, Zachary Armstrong, and Miranda Armstrong. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. In her younger years she loved picnics, dancing, and drive-in movies. As the years passed, she loved watching Broadway musicals, and when she wasn’t watching them, she was enjoying listening to the music. In her later years, she enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers, feeding the birds, playing games on her I-pad, and especially loved spending time with and face-timing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known by a few different names, depending on when and where you may have come in contact with her over the years or how you knew her. To her children, she was mom. To her friends, family, and loving husband, she was “Susie”. During her career as an administrative assistant at Belle Chasse Middle School, she was Mrs. Newberry to her co-workers as well as many students that attended there. And of course, to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was Granny. She touched many lives and made many lasting friendships over the years. No matter how you knew her or which name you called her by, she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, Louisiana on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 11AM until 1:30PM.
