Lourdes Janer Astilla

Lourdes Janer Astilla passed away peacefully at her residence on February 21, 2022 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Fernando E. Astilla. Mother of Lissa (Skip) Tucker, Lena (Rolando) Saavedra, and Kristina (Jay) Christoff. Grandmother “Abita” of Jeb and Danny Tucker; Melek, Kylie, Seve, and Sofia Saavedra; and Cameron, Anna, and Eliza Christoff. Daughter of the late Asuncion Sanz Janer and Jose Luis Janer. Sister of Mario Marrero (Lydia) and Roberto Marrero (Nellie). Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Lourdes was a native of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and a resident of Harvey, LA, and recently residing in Montgomery, AL. She was a translator and secretary for an international company, a medical office manager with her husband’s practice, and most importantly a loving mother who opened her home and heart to all. She was a devoted Catholic and radiated joy in her faith. She had a playful affectionate nature, especially with her grandchildren. Her warmth and smile touched everyone who met her. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 11am to 1pm. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna, LA.
