Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends who she adored! Thank you to all the family and friends that would check in on her. We love you. Sue and her beloved A.J. married in 1953 began raising their family in Belle Chasse and then moved to their family home in Westwego. For many years they divided time between Westwego and their Slidell home on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. They especially enjoyed hosting family reunions and holidays at “The Camp”. Family was always the center of her life and she was indeed the matriarch of the family which now spans five generations. She and A.J. traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, Japan, Portugal and Spain. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her husband and the love they shared was obvious to anyone who shared time in their presence. Sue particularly enjoyed visiting family, her weekly trips to her hairdresser Ranell, listening to her country music, especially Charlie Pride, enjoying her Louisiana snowballs, seafood boils, admiring her yard flowers and plants, and Boo Boo her cat. And anyone who knew her could attest she had the unique ability to speak volumes with just a “look” along with her dry sense of humor and quick wit! Sue was a devout and practicing Catholic her entire life. She was an example of a loving and giving woman of God who instilled in her children the tenants of Catholicism. She and her husband were long time parishioners of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego. Upon her husbands’ passing she re-located to Gretna with her daughter Mary and became faithful parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she cherished her close relationships with Fr. Frank Carabello and Fr. Douglas Brougher. She always looked forward to attending retreats with her daughter Gail to the St. Joseph Abbey in St. Benedict. When her health no longer permitted her to attend Sunday Mass she followed daily Mass and the Rosary on television. Her belief in the power of prayer and practice of her Catholic faith defined her daily life were paramount. She will be remembered for her huge giving heart, faith and quiet grace and dignified manner. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; a full life well lived and a constant source of inspiration to us all. She leaves a legacy of love and will be truly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. Her family wishes to especially thank St. Joseph Church and Fr. Gary, Tiffany, and Russell Koespelich, her Eucharistic Minister. It meant so much to her to receive communion every Friday. To everyone that donated blood in her name. To Fr. Douglas Brougher, Fr. Frank Carabello, Fr. Mike Schneller, for their continued prayers, Dr. Craig Ehrensing, Kori Digiovanni and Serenity Hospice, Greg Reggio and Zea’s Rotissere, Dodie Rackley, Elizabeth Miller, Denise Larousse, and the Gretna Police Dept. for their kindness, compassion, and generosity. In keeping with her wishes a private visitation and Memorial Mass were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, July 25, 2022 followed by interment at Westlawn Cemetary in Gretna. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph Abbey, The Poor Claire Nuns, Special Olympics, or your favorite charity preferred. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family during this difficult time.
