Leila Buras Hahnebohm of Venice, La. passed away at her home on October 24, 2021 at the age of 87. Leila was the daughter of the late Celia Barrios (the late John) and the late Roy Buras (the late Maude) on July 24, 1934. She is proceeded in death by her husband Earl Hahnebohm and her son Donald Hahnebohm. She is survived by her children Donna Bingham (the late Charles) and Anna Scarabin (Michael). She was the beloved Grandmother of Monica Lopez, Michelle Plaisance (Jerry), and Amanda Lott. The Great Grandmother to Katelyn, Hayden, Grayson, and Levi. Sister of Dana Barrios, the late Madele Smith, and the late James “Jimmy” Barrios (Sharlene).
Leila was an employee of Stumpf’s IGA for many decades where she was also known as “Lulu”. She would reminisce often of her days working with coworkers in the meat department. She was a member of the Venice Lions Club Auxiliary and a founding member of the BVVFD Ladies Auxiliary where she spent many years cooking for events and the community. Most who knew her could remember her standing on a step stool stirring a huge pot of red bean soup. Her favorite pass time was working in her yard planting flowers. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 1pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, 70058. A visitation will begin at 11am. Interment will immediately follow at Jump Basin Cemetery, Venice.
