Leighton Alby "Mack" Mcswain

July 14, 1944 — August 14, 2019

Leighton Alby “Mack” McSwain passed away on August 14, 2019.
Our Dad was a vibrant soul full of life and always ready to stand up for what he was passionate about. He was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as the youngest child to Zollie Malcomb McSwain and Gladys Oswalt McSwain who have both preceded him in death. Brother of Glenda Goodwin of Laurel and Shelia Harrington of Petal, MS. Father of Richard McSwain and Wendy Gay of Petal, MS. Grandfather of Tyler, Shyanne, and Savannah McSwain, Gatlin and Franki Hubbard, and Josie Gay. Great-grandfather of Kymber Nichols.
“Mack” had spent the last 40 years as a resident of Plaquemine’s Parish, La, where he fell in love with the people and the culture of South, La. He retired from Targa Resources approximately 10 years ago and we had hoped he would rejoin his family farm after retirement. We thought he could enjoy the quiet life of raising calves and haying the cows under the Big Sky, but Plaquemines Parish had a strong hold on him. It was a fun life, filled with countless friends and carefree days of fishing and laughs with the people he felt most at home with. Our Father was a wealthy man because of his friends.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a small informal come-and-go Visitation at Hulett Winstead Funeral Home, 205 Bay Street, Hattiesburg, MS, on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Loving Memory of Mack. To view and sign the online guestbook visit www.mothefunerals.com
