Laware "Lou" Lowrey Shank

February 25, 1932 - April 30, 2022

Laware “Lou” Lowrey Shank passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Dean G. Shank. Mother of Cary S. Brignac (Mike), Tracy S. Mattos (George), and Jody S. Bodouin (Jason). Grandmother of Jeffrey Sokol (Victoria), Caitlin S. Kelly (Steve), Alisa Blake Dobronich, Beau Blake (Cherie), and Alexandra L. Berwick. Great-grandmother Isabella, Dean, Carolyn, Gabrielle, Stone, Mack, Grace, Connor, Jaxon, Blakely, Briley, and Bennet. Daughter of the late David Lowrey and Clara Salley Giroir. Loving aunt of Roland Lowrey (Sandra). Age 90 years, a native of Duncan, MS, longtime resident of Algiers, LA and recent resident of Covington, LA. Mrs. Lou was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a 1949 graduate of Martin Behrman High School. As a passionate advocate of St. Michael’s Special School, she was very active volunteer helping with their annual Blue Rose Ball, Chef’s Charity Luncheon, as well as a Covenant House mentor for many years. She also enjoyed her hobbies of knitting and quilting, canning, gardening, and traveling. She will be deeply missed by all. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 1 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until funeral time.
