Larry Richard Hickson

Larry (Uncle Sonny) Hickson was born on February 19, 1931 and passed away peacefully under the care of Lakeside Hospice on August 11, 2018. During his brief illness, he was cared for by many wonderful friends and family. He was born in West Helena, Arkansas on February 19, 1931 to parents Bernice Kilgo and Basil Hickson. Larry's spent his childhood years with his grandparents, Lucy and Napoleon Hickson in West Helena arriving in the New Orleans area at age 8 to reside with his mother, Bernice, sister, Peggy Hickson Horne Cyprowski and his brother, Rex Hickson (all deceased). Larry and his sister Peggy shared a close bond and always looked after each other. Larry worked for various oil tool companies as a mechanic and in sales and service. He worked well into his 80's. He loved automobiles and machinery of all kind. He was always generous beyond his means and would help you if he could. Many people will remember him fondly. Uncle was our Santa Claus throughout our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren. He is survived by his nephew, Josie J. Horne Jr. (wife Julie), neices, JoAnn Horne Weinberg (husband John) and Trudy Horne Bettinger (husband John) along with many great nieces and nephews. His remains will be returned to West Helena, Arkansas where he will join his sister, Peggy and his grandparents, Lucy and Napoleon Hickson. A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
