L.D. "Larry" "Deccia" Williams

L.D. “Larry” “Deccia” Williams entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2022, at 3:23a.m., at Ochsner Hospital Westbank Campus. He was 82 years old, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Harvey, Louisiana. L.D. was born June 20, 1939, in Magnolia, Mississippi to the union of the late Lonnie and Cherry Mae Williams. He was educated in Orleans Parish School System. He had a great passion for welding, and it was his career for more than 66 years. Larry worked at Ashton Marine Shipyard for 25 years as a welder until he retired in 2020. Prior to that, he was employed by Barnette Marine Shipyard, Avondale Shipyard, Gretna Machinery, Regan Equipment and Elmwood Shipyard. He enjoyed welding and teaching others how to weld. His favorite pass time was playing cards, which led him to meet many people during the course of his life. L.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Cherry Mae Williams, sister Carita Williams-Roache (Warren), four brothers: Melvin Williams, Sylvester Williams, Clarence Williams and Johnnie Williams, Sr., sister-in-laws Mary Williams and Cynthia Thomas, step-son Reginald Angelin Jr., nephew Kenneth Allen, son-in-law of Harold and Calena Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 33 years Darlene Brown Angelin Williams. Children: Lydell Gilmore (Jennifer), Kim Williams, Kelli Williams, Ke’Shaya Williams and other children. Grandchildren: Kennedi Williams, Lybrail Gilmore, Killian Common, Kaiden Hampton, Lariya Gilmore, Jeremiah Jackson, Ka’Che Williams and other grandchildren. His only sister Carolyn Williams and two brothers, Larry Williams and Lloyd Williams, sisters-in-law: Janice Brown, Carmelita Russell (John), Harriet Green (Rev. Glen), Margaret Williams, Sylvia Williams and Dorothy Williams and brother-in-law Harold Brown. God child, JaQuan Cooper. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral Services entrusted to MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, L.L.C., 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana 70058. Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00A.M. Visitation will begin at 9:00A.M. Internment at Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70122. Pastor Leonard Franklin, Officiating - St. Rock Baptist Church.
