Kathleen Prats Vogt

March 18, 1943 — April 22, 2018

Kathleen Prats Vogt passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018 at the age 75. Beloved wife of Paul S. Vogt Sr. Loving mother of Paul S. Vogt Jr. (Robin) and Kathleen Robert (Kearny). Grandmother of Katherine “Katie”, Madeline “Molly”, Megan and Elizabeth “Lizzie”. Daughter of the late Roland Prats and Buhler Ose Prats. Also survived by other loving relatives and many friends.
A graduate of Rugby Academy in New Orleans, Kathy led a rich and rewarding life. She was active in the community and a respected leader. Kathy twice served as president for Creative Planters Garden Club, President of Children’s Hospital Guild, member of The Women’s Guild of the New Orleans Opera, Director on the board of Family Service of Greater New Orleans, East Jefferson Hospital Foundation Board member, Chairwomen of Women and Children’s Events for the National Governor’s Conference held in Louisiana, as well as numerous other non-profits to which she devoted her time and talents.
Kathy served on Governor Ronald W. Reagan’s Presidential Advance Team and his Inaugural Committee while President Elect. Kathy remained in Washington DC as Special Assistant to Undersecretary of HUD. She remained active in her service to the Republican Party by spearheading national campaign events, holding the position of President for Jefferson Women’s Republican Club and The Metropolitan Women’s Club of which she was a founding member.
An avid lover of horses, in her youth Kathy was an award-winning national rodeo competitor in barrel racing, roping, and the Western riding style. As her interests shifted, she rediscovered her love for animals and especially Scottish Terriers. She served on the Scottish Terrier Club of America Board of Directors and was owner of the 2007 World Champion Scottish Terrier.
Most of all, Kathy loved being a wife to her husband, Paul, and both a grandmother to her four granddaughters to whom she often expressed her love and pride, and to her children. She was a strong and supportive mother living a life of example through her daily prayers, thoughts, and all her loving deeds.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scottish Terrier Club of America, University of Notre Dame Fencing Team, or Town of Abita Springs Museum.
