Joseph Jesse Ortego

May 24, 1943 — February 7, 2022

Joseph “Jesse” Ortego passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 78, called home to be with his beloved wife of 54 years, Eva Ortego, his parents, the late Arthur and Ella Ortego, and sister Marlene Ortego. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Ortego (Gene) and Joseph “Brent” Ortego (Dawn), his grandsons, Dylan Ortego and Trent Collins and a host of sister-in-laws, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and retired in 2005 after many years as the Quality Assurance coordinator for the Blood Center. He was an avid fisherman for many years but most recently loved spending time with his family and his grandsons he loved so dearly. He was a great man, loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072 on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11am. Visitation will be held from 9am until 11am. Interment, Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 6851 River Road, Waggaman, LA 70094.
