Joseph "Joey" Lewis Edwards

Joseph Lewis Edwards (Joey) passed away on July 27, 2021 at the young age of 60. Joey was born on September 4, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lynda Sandoz Edwards and the late Joseph Seals Edwards. He was the beloved nephew of the late Gayle Frances Sandoz. Joey was preceded in death by his brother Mark Edwards. He is survived by his sisters Stephanie Baudoin and Karen Fraychineaud. He was the loving and proud father of Joseph Edwards, Jr (Brandy), Ashlyn Salande (Brian Newman), Dr. Joshua Edwards, Alyssa Martin (Donald), Damian Edwards (Alyssa Albers) and Shane Earhart. He was the loving and proud grandfather to James Salande IV, Michael Whitehead, Katelynn Edwards, Christina Edwards, and Dean Martin due December 6, 2021. Joey was a wonderful and loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. His family meant the world to him. He was a great friend. He was a kind and generous person. He was willing to help anyone in need. He loved animals and rescued many throughout his lifetime. His hobbies were scuba diving, building models and creating action films. He loved Star Wars and Star Trek. His favorite band was the Beatles. He loved nature, hiking and camping. He was an EMT employed by New Orleans EMS. He loved his job. New Orleans EMS was more than a job to Joey. It was home and family. We are very thankful for the love and support New Orleans EMS has provided Joey during his life and to us during this difficult time. We can never thank all of you enough. Our hearts are so touched by your love, kindness, and generosity. He was so very blessed to have all of you in his life. Our lives will never be the same without you. You will be forever loved and missed. It’s not goodbye but until we see each other again. We love you dad. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation and Memorial Services at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy, Harvey, Louisiana on August 5, 2021.
