Joseph Earl Ballard, 76, a resident of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at The Trace on the evening of December 29, 2020, with his beloved granddaughter Chelsea Dazet by his side. Joseph was retired from the oil field where he worked for nearly 50 years traveling all over the country – including a two year residence in Africa. In his younger years, Joseph served as a private in the U.S. Army. Later in life as a retiree, Joseph enjoyed tinkering with Ford trucks, gardening, and wood-working.
He is preceded in death by his wife Diane Ballard, father James Ballard, mother Marie Levie Ballard, siblings James Laurie Ballard, Joseph Allen Ballard, Julia Rita Albert, and step-children Regina Ballay Venturini and Joseph Clement Ballay IV. He is survived by his sisters Levie Ballard David and Nethel Ballard Ulmer, step-children Bonnie Ballay Dazet (Everard), Michael Charles Ballay (Beverly) and Jon Christopher Ballay, as well as plenty of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to The Trace living facility staff who Joseph adored, St. Tammany Parish Hospice, and Dr. Richard Long for always tending to Joseph’s needs.
