Jose A Vindel Jr.

November 13, 1935 — June 11, 2022

Jose A. Vindel, Jr. passed away on June 11, 2022 at the age of 86. Born in La Ceiba, Honduras, he received a scholarship from the United Fruit Company in Honduras to come to the United States to study. He came to New Orleans where he mastered the English language and attended Delgado Trade School and earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a Merchant Mariner, sailing for Lykes Bros. Steamship Company as an Electrical Engineer First Mate which took him around the world many times over. He was a resident for almost 14 years at Chateau de Notre Dame.
We want to thank everyone at Chateau de Notre Dame for the care he received while there. We also want to thank the nurses and staff at Touro Hospital Senior Care Unit for his last two weeks of care.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Consuelo Pavon Bolton, his brother, Juan Bolton, and wife of 41 years, Audrey Schloegel Vindel.

He is survived by his daughter, Buffie Vindel Flair (Kurt), and his son, Nestor C. Vindel (Danielle) and his children from his first marriage to Helen Flanagan Templin; daughter, Gina Wood, and son, Joe Vindel; grandchildren: Emily, Isabella and Elliott Vindel, Jack and Drew Flair.

A private graveside service will be held at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana on June 24, 2022.
