Dr. John Sigurd Salmon, DC, a chiropractic physician, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the age of 71. Dr. Salmon was born on July 30, 1949 in San Francisco, California to the late Robert Wilson Salmon and Sigrid Elaine Grande-Salmon of Jamestown, North Dakota. He lived in Jefferson Parish for the past 35 years. John attended the University of Hawaii where he earned the Bachelor of Science degree and later enrolled at Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia where he earned the Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. John was featured in the 1993 – 1994 Who’s Who of Global Business Leaders. John went on to receive various other accolades throughout his illustrious career. Full of life and passionate about helping people, John worked in private practice for over 30 years. After closing his practice he continued to provide patient care at Uptown Premier Medical Rehab (UPMR) on Oak Street in New Orleans where he worked alongside Dr. Craig Ledet for the last nine years. John had a variety of interests - fishing, bowling, gardening and painting portraits but his favorite hobby was traveling. He loved meeting new people and learning about new cultures. John was intelligent, loving, wise and kind- hearted, and he embraced people from all walks of life. In 2000 John met his life partner (fiancée) Sherole Ellis and was never happier. He was a wonderful and positive figure in her life and the lives of her children and grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa John”. Dr. John Salmon is survived by his daughter, Rachel Bertolette (Auburn Reimer), two grandsons Braxton and Landyn Bertolette, brother Jeffrey Salmon (April Wooten), two nephews Matthew and John, sister Sydney James (Stephen James), three nieces Kaitlin, Leigh, and Madeleine and a host of family and friends. John was a very happy and loving person who eagerly sought to help others neither expecting nor asking for anything in return. He was loved by many and will sadly be missed by all. Due to the COVID Pandemic, attendees are limited to 100 persons. All attendees must wear a face mask for the duration of the visitation and funeral service. Also, due to the COVID Pandemic, there will be no Repast. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 9:30AM until 11AM. Memorial Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11AM. Burial will take place at a later date; however, plants and flower arrangements are preferred. Please no stands.
