John Meredith Murphy

John Meredith Murphy passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the age of 84. John was a loving and caring husband to Xavia “Josie” Massey Murphy for 59 years until her death in 2017. He was a loving father to Susan Murphy Deslattes (Clem) and John M Murphy, Jr. (Leslie). Grandfather of Jennifer Deslatte Coco (Bradley), Jarod Joseph Murphy (Angela), Jacob Patrick Murphy and Robert Conlin Murphy. Great-grandfather of Ryan Patrick Coco and Jackson Joseph Murphy. Beloved son of the late Zillah “Tootsie” Igleharte Murphy and Joseph Lemley Murphy. Brother of Sharon Murphy Gauthreaux (the late Earl). Brother-in-law of Lloyd Massey (Sandra). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps., retired from Atmos Entergy after a long and successful career, enjoyed traveling with Josie, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Homes, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00.
