John Daniel “Roller” Martin, Sr., 89, was called to his eternal rest on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at his home, in Harvey, Louisiana. He was born on May 4, 1928, in Algiers, Louisiana to the late Clarence Martin and Elnora Martin. He served over 44 years at the International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO, Local 854, after which he retired. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his only wife Audrey P. Martin, his children: Wilbert Freeman, Sr. (Joyce); Joseph Freeman III (Raynell); Arlene Prince Johnson; John Daniel Martin, Jr.; Daniel Martin, Sr. (Jeanette); Joan Martin Mullen; Margaret Martin Johnson; Audrey Martin Allen (Wallace); Alex Martin, Sr. (the late Sheila); and Patricia Ann Martin. Three brothers: Robert Martin (the late Eunice); Richard Martin (Leah); and Fred Martin (Godson). Three sisters: Josephine Jenkins; Edna Green; and Hazel Martin McKinney (Willie). Twenty-eight grandchildren: Kenneth Baptiste, Michael, Linda, Wilbert Jr., Kimwan, Cicely, Ashley, Bryson, Kimberly, Jodie, Denton, John III, Lakesha, Lamar, Danielle, Danise, Daniel Jr., Kenneth Mullen, Jr., Tamyeka, Wallace III, Nicole Rene, Iesia, Alex Jr., Teshia, Cornelius, Jaleel, Alvin Jr., and Anika. Sixty-three great-grandchildren; Twenty-six great-great, grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, seven brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter, five grand-sons, one daughter-in-law and one son-in-law. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life in the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Homes, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will
begin at 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Christian Social Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
