JoAnn Mary Jacobsen passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the age of 81. JoAnn spent 40 years teaching elementary school in the Jefferson Parish School System where she loved to mold the minds of her little students. Upon retirement, Joann spent her days camping, fishing, playing at the Casino, and traveling the United States with her family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of Gretna and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. JoAnn was the beloved daughter of the late John S. Jacobsen Sr. and the late Mary Hertz Jacobsen. Sister of Fay J. Haddican and the late John “ Johnny” S. Jacobsen Jr. Sister- in- law of Edna K. Jacobsen and the late Michael Haddican. Companion of the late Sylma Clinton. To all of her nephews and nieces , JoAnn was lovingly known as Nannie. Nannie is survived by 1 nephew John “ Tiger” S. Jacobsen III ( Dawn), 2 nieces Jean A. Jacobsen and Julie J. McDonald ( Ramon). Also survived by 1 great niece, Brooke and 5 great nephews, Ramon, Larry, Blake, Cody and John IV. 3 great great nieces and great great nephews and a loving bonus family Shannon Fasullo , Zachary Clinton , Sammy F. Mazerac, and the late Laurie Clinton Nielsen. JoAnn was also survived by numerous cousins.
