Jeanne Ruth Miller

Jeanne passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 80 in Marrero, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to a large Cajun family. She was proud of her roots from Opelousas but enjoyed her long life in Marrero as well.

Born on a cotton farm in 1940, she was one out of nearly a dozen children of the late Yves and Cora Lalonde. She was married at 15 and moved to the city, remaining there the rest of her life. She enjoyed playing card games and bingo, going to the casino, getting dolled up, and gossiping over coffee. She was known for her Cajun accent, always wearing lipstick no matter the occasion, cracking jokes, and befriending anyone around her. She was also a fan of tea time and tea parties with relatives, even serving any guest's coffee in a tea cup.

Jeanne was survived by her children - Linda Gomez, Shiela Massana (Archie III), Rodney Miller, Edward Miller (Georgia), and Steven Miller (Kathy). Her grandchildren also remain - Kay Dhanraj (Steven), Ricky Gomez (Amy), Nakita Beauclaire (Beaux), Archie Massana IV, Nadia Massana, Eric Miller, Jennifer Faulk (Adam), Amy Green (Thomas), and Danielle Miller. Multiple great-grandchildren and grandanimals also remain. Her siblings that remain are Yves Lalonde Jr., Ralph Lalonde, Leroy Lalonde, Georgia Tauzin, Sandra Degeyter, and Betty Doucet. Her surviving sister-in-laws are Rose Lalonde and Jane Miller, as well as her personal hairdresser, Debbie Arceneaux. She was predeceased by her parents, the late Yves and Cora Lalonde, and her siblings – Roland Lalonde, Gloria Marks, Malcolm Lalonde, and Kenneth Lalonde.

Her wake will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA, from 4:00pm til 5:00pm for immediate family only. Public visitation starts at 5:00pm and lasts till 9:00pm. It resumes again on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 8:00am till 11:00am. There will be a small religious service after, followed by the funeral at Restlawn Cemetery, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA.
